How to join Bridgnorth Rowing Club

Bridgnorth Rowing Club is a small and friendly, yet top quality, rowing club based in Severn Park, Bridgnorth.  If you want to join, you should come along on any Tuesday or Thursday at 6.30pm, or any Sunday at 9am.  You will be given a tour of our facilities and you can join up for a month's trial membership for £15.  At the end of the month you will have a good idea if rowing's for you and you can become a full member.

We are currenlty looking for any new members, including our mens squad, ladies squad and especially coxes.

Learn To Row Courses

We will be holding more learn to row courses in 2010. These take place as a group and are designed to get compelte beginners up-and-rowing in just a few weeks. Please contact us for more information. This is the best way to learn how to row as you will be learning with a group similarly skilled people, and will make a new group of friends.

About Coxing

At the most basic level a cox is responsible for steering a crew down a course, but this doesn't do justice to a good cox's responsibilities. With training and practice a cox can choose a good racing line and take responsibility for a crew's pace down the course. Coxes benefit from greatly reduced membership fees (less than £20 per year), don't pay to enter regattas, and win pots along with their crew. If you are interested in coxing, come downat the times above and find outwhat it's all about.

Training

Training in the summer mainly consists of time on the water in coxed fours and eights, single, double and quadruple sculls, doing technical drills and race pieces. The regatta season runs from April to August and these races are very demanding events, so you have to be fit!  It is important to build up your long-term fitness in the winter months through rowing in long distance events, running, circuit training and lifting weights.

Any Queries?

Please feel free to visit us on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6.30pm or Sundays at 9am.  The Mens' and Ladies' Captains will be happy to chat and show you around the boathouse.
